Park Avenue

New York

In this full renovation of a classic Park Avenue apartment, Phillip Thomas orchestrated a richly layered interior that blends old-world elegance with contemporary sophistication. Guided by his belief in design as personal expression, the two-and-a-half-year project showcases craftsmanship, couture-level detail, and artistic nuance.

A lacquered red foyer—matched to the client’s favorite nail polish—sets a bold tone, with Macassar Ebony doors, a marble floor, and a J. & L. Lobmeyr chandelier. Thomas collaborated with Holland & Sherry on embroidered satin wall panels and with Lesage on the dining chairs, honoring artisan traditions throughout. Lacquered rooms in crimson, blue, and green reflect the clients’ love of high-gloss drama.

Custom wallcoverings by De Gournay and Gracie add a tactile, narrative quality. The mix of furnishings—from Herve van der Straeten and Karl Springer to Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann, and Lalique—creates a refined yet eclectic dialogue. The result is a deeply personal home that celebrates beauty, history, and elegance.
