Clients had owned this 100 year-old home in an idyllic seaside town for about a decade before asking Phillip to reimagine the interiors, albeit without any major construction and, as
luck would have it, during a pandemic.

Small interventions – repainting some ceilings in a satin finish, strategic use of decorative glazes, even cladding the kitchen ceiling in faux bois wallpaper — yielded dramatic results, and formed the base upon which to layer exquisite furniture, lighting and decorative accessories from around the globe. Standouts include a Guillerme et Chambron chandelier, a Jacques Adnet sideboard, a collection of “Ceramiques de Picasso” printed by Albert Skira, and a cement dining table so perfectly aged it was partially covered in moss. Exuberant, one-of-a-kind ceramics by Reinaldo Sanguino and Christopher Maschinot were commissioned specifically for the home, as was the Arizona needle sculpture by Tom Faulkner, in a vibrant shade of cobalt blue.

Phillip cleverly created vistas by redesigning the garden to include a beautiful outdoor kitchen, dining area and inviting firepit circle, then framed those views from rooms inside the home. A rarely-used open air porch was given new life with the addition of telescoping doors and incredibly stylish furnishings that were designed to withstand the elements; the clients now enjoy it year-round.
