EAST RIVER

NEW YORK, NY

Confronted with a very large architecturally challenging space with low ceilings, Phillip designed an expansive and breathtaking open plan entertaining room to accommodate both large and intimate gatherings. He did this by creating different zones within the space, each with beautifully framed vistas, and effected the illusion of higher ceilings by using innumerable coats of high gloss paint to achieve a highly reflective surface. Faced with gas pipes that couldn’t be moved, Phillip designed screens to rotate around the pipes to create more intimacy. He also added a fireplace at each end of the room; the sculptural benches set in front of them are works of art discovered at the Frieze art fair.
