A New York City duplex in a Richard Meier tower was presented to Phillip as a blank canvas with only raw floors, windows, and substantial round columns that could not be moved. With space at a premium, the design was approached like that of a yacht interior, maximizing every square inch using rich materials and luxurious details. African olivewood cabinets and closets, leather (encasing the aforementioned columns as well as banisters), bronze accents. Phillip tapped Lesage Intérieurs, a historic embroidery company now owned by Chanel, to embellish the dining room chairs in a hammered-metal thread, designed the living room rug to reflect the current of the Hudson River as seen through the expansive windows, and created a seasonal headboard with a furry cover for winter and cashmere for summer. The ultimate detail: using a Fernando Botero painting as a screen to shelter the master bath.
